This conference is convened by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Department of Commerce, and the Small Business Administration with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and the Directorate General for Trade. The U.S.-EU SME Workshop is an ongoing opportunity for small businesses to engage directly and discuss relevant topics with government officials from the U.S., the European Commission and EU Member States as well as SMEs and associations from both sides of the Atlantic. The location alternates each year between the U.S. and the EU. The EU hosted the SME workshop in Augsburg, Germany in September 2022. This year the U.S. will host the SME workshop with the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Alabama and the Alabama Department of Commerce.

SEPTEMBER 12– The U.S.-EU events will kick off with an afternoon tour at 2:30 pm of the Birmingham Civil Rights District, followed by dinner at Jones Valley Teaching Farm.

SEPTEMBER 13–The U.S.-EU SME Workshop will take place from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. Venue details provided with an approved registration. Capacity is limited.

We will conclude the U.S.-EU workshop and kick off Discover Global Markets: Europe with a networking reception from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.

DISCOVER GLOBAL MARKETS

Discover Global Markets (DGM) is the U.S. Department of Commerce’s flagship event series for U.S. exporters. You will gain market insights from U.S. commercial diplomats and industry experts based at U.S. Embassies in Europe and Eurasia; participate in one-onone meetings with U.S. government trade experts, key industry primes, and potential European partners; hear from private sector thought leaders about emerging sectors and regional strategies; and learn about EU polices and regulations relevant to your market growth. DGM: Europe features one-onone pre-scheduled meetings with U.S. Commercial Officers/Specialists and other subject matter experts. Speakers include Michael Lally, Regional Senior Commercial Officer – Europe U.S. Commercial Service, and Commercial Officers/Specialists from Norway, Poland, Hungary, and Turkey.

SEPTEMBER 13 DGM: Europe will kick off with a networking reception with the U.S.-EU Workshop attendees beginning at 5:30 pm.

SEPTEMBER 14 DGM: Europe will take place from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm and will conclude with a networking reception at Good People Brewing Company.
